& The Stencil Card

Materials Used:

CS-7 Classic Rose from American Traditional Classic Dimensions Sentiments Stencils

#117 House Mouse Designs Stamp from Stampa Rosa

Decorating Chalks

Black Card Stock

Rice Paper

Watercolor paper or white card stock

Gold Photo Corners

Scotch Mounting Tape

To layer stencil the rose:

1. Take the rice paper and carefully position it on your work surface. Be care as it tears easily.

2. Position the stencils and mark the triangles for positioning. Be sure to mark lightly.

3. Work with the first stencil.

Use the picture from the package to get a better idea about shading and coloration.

Remember to work with light to dark. Use the chalks to color or stencil in the design.

4. Remove the first stencil and position the second stencil.

Be sure to line up on the triangles.

Again, use the picture from the package as a guide to stencil in the color.

5. Remove the second stencil and position the third stencil.

Be sure to line up on the triangles.

Again, use the picture from the package as a guide to stencil in the color.

6. Check your image to see if you need to apply more color anywhere or if you might have missed an area.

7. Remove the stencils and carefully erase the triangles.

I have found a Magic Rub eraser works best.

8. Trim the excess rice paper and position the photo corners to the corners of the design.

To stamp the mouse:

1. Stamp the mouse on watercolor paper or white card stock. I used black color box ink.

2. Color in the parts of the various parts of the image.

You will want to fill in the ink jar with a color used in your stenciled image.

I used oil pencils to color in the mouse image. you may use color pencils or markers.

3. Trim around the image.

4. Cut small pieces of the mounting tape and apply to the back of the mouse image.

Try to cut the pieces of tape small enough that they do not show beyond the edge of the image.

Putting the card together:

1. Fold and cut the black card stock to the necessary size.

Be sure to leave a good border.

2. Carefully apply moisture to the back of the photo corners

and position the stenciled image on the black card stock.

3. Position the Mouse image carefully. Be sure the end of the pen is

positioned over or near the desired area of the stenciled image.

You may want to stamp and emboss a message inside your card

or you may decide to stamp your message on a separate piece of rice paper

and mount inside the card in a manner similar to the mounting of the stenciled image.

I recommend that you use a color of ink for your message

which matches one of the colors used for the stenciled image.

You may wish to spray a fixative over the chalked image

or you could place a piece of tissue paper over it before placing in an envelope.
