Sawdust Modeling Clay
Materials Needed:
1 cup fine sawdust
Food coloring (Optional)
Old newspapers
1 cup Thin Paste
Instructions:
1) Mix sawdust with food coloring in a glass jar. Drain and spread on newspaper to dry before using.
2) Mix sawdust and paste to a thick doughlike consistency.
Knead until completely mixed.
The amount of paste will vary with the kind of sawdust used.
If coarse, more paste may be needed to obtain a doughlike consistency.
Makes 1 cup.
Model as with any clay.Dries in 2-3 days.
You may bake at 200 degrees Fahrenheit for 1 to 2 hours to speed up the drying process.
You may use shellac, varnish or spray finish on hardened objects.
