Instant Rice Paste
Materials needed: 1/4 cup dry instant rice
1 cup water
Electric blender
1/4 cup warm water
1 tsp. of antiseptic, such as Listerine
Instructions:
1) Put rice in a bowl and pour in 1/2 cup of the water. Let stand overnight.
2) Pour mixture into blender and add the 1/4 cup warm water.
Liquefy for five minutes. Do not under mix or it will be lumpy.
3) Pour liquid mixture into a saucepan and add the remaining 1/2 cup water.
Warm mixture for five minutes, stirring constantly.
4) Remove from heat and let cool. Add antiseptic to prevent spoilage.
Makes 1/2 cup. This paste will dry clear and is a good base for finger paints.
To make paints, simply add desired food coloring or powdered pigments.
Store in a covered glass jar.
